October 27th, 10 am to 6 pm

A cave really is the perfect place for a haunted Halloween tour. And Stark Caverns already has the dark passages, the bats, the menacing shapes in the rocks and a history of occupation by civil war guerillas, bank robbers, moonshiners and other interesting outlaws. At Stark Caverns we've even had a group of 3 boys lost in the deep recesses of the cave for several days and an explorer who barely found his way back out. We have dozens of ancient bear beds and scratch marks from other long-gone animal visitors. Rumor has it that Stark Caverns was the first Lake of the Ozarks area cave to offer a haunted Halloween tour back in the 1950s. We've decided that this a tradition that MUST come back.

So, we're pleased to have offered Haunted Happenings at Stark Caverns - a one-day only family event that was on October 27th, 2018, from 10 am to 6 pm. We offered 30-minute haunted cave tours and other entertaining activities including spooky gemstone and fossil mining, pumpkin painting and Halloween s'mores by our campfire. There was hot chocolate available, and a free candy treat or two for our costumed visitors.  We added some additonal free games for our youngest guests (and others who enjoy these sorts of activities) including Halloween Bingo and Pumpkin Bean Bag Toss.
